The Third Twin

When we did IVF four years ago we had three embryos transferred. That was all we had and we weren't going to try one at a time, or just two and freeze the third. We figured transferring all three would up our chances of having one baby. And we got two!

Now that Shawn is here it seems that he is the third baby we could have had, or should have had, four years ago. (Although I'm very glad he didn't come at the same time as a triplet, twins was hard enough!) He even looks like he could have been the triplet! The more I think about it, the more I realize we were meant to have three children. Not having triplets was a very good thing, I'm not sure we could have handled that. And obviously the Lord knew that. Then getting pregnant again after giving up and thinking we never would have any more children was a miracle. Shawn is supposed to be here, he is supposed to be a part of our family now. I'm so grateful for all three of my children!

And now for some fun. Here are three pictures, one of Shawn, Connor, and Heather on the day they were each born. Can you guess who's who?

You gave me chills. He is most definitely the third triplet. I can't believe how much he looks like the twins. Thanks for sharing such a great story.

I guess number two is Shawn. He looks a lot like my Jacob.

I have no idea. I guessed three, but I don't feel too confident that it is the correct one. You can totally tell he belongs. You have a beautiful family.

Shawn in your little miracle baby. It's funny how often your sentiments are said..."after giving up and thinking we never would have any more"...I can't count how many times I have heard that and witnessed a miracle baby. He is totally supposed to be with you. It's awesome.

Okay, I'm guessing the middle picture is Shawn.

I'm glad he is almost to the apnea milestone. Hopefully he will get to the feeding milestone soon!

Love,
Kathy
